Nene Macdonald defies gravity to score this sensational try for St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL

There were some pretty special efforts this week, but Nene Macdonald's try for the Dragons in the NRL was quite outstanding. He showed some incredible athleticism to field Gareth Widdop's cross-field kick and then to get it down before going into touch. It was a 'No Try' on the field as few could believe he had managed to get it down in time but replays showed that he did!

James Greenwood finishes off a 70m try for Hull KR against Huddersfield

We also enjoyed James Greenwood's try for Hull KR after a superb break from Rob Mulhern. The front rower showed a remarkable turn of pace to go 70 metres, swatting off Danny Brough on the way, and had the presence of mind to find the supporting Greenwood after Jermaine McGillvary had got back to make the tackle.

Wakefield were 2-0 up against Widnes before the game was abandoned on Saturday evening. Trinity's Matty Ashurst may have welcomed the icy conditions, though, after being smashed in a tackle by Krisnan Inu!

Challenge Cup shocks

Big win for League One sides York City Knights and Whitehaven in the Challenge Cup as they knocked out Championship sides Swinton Lions and Dewsbury Rams. Kells Amateur Rugby League Club put in a credible effort against Toronto Wolfpack, while Workington were just pipped by Championship leaders London Broncos.

Catalans crisis

With just one win from six outings, the Dragons sit at the bottom of the Super league table after their 26-0 loss to Warrington at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Catalans Dragons coach Steve McNamara was disappointed at seeing his side lose so heavily to the Wolves and says he needs to look at his combinations.

"I need to look at what we're doing, I need to look at our combinations and get the best combinations on the field but there is a lot that we need to work on after tonight, just not one or two things.

"The whole performance was really poor, we haven't progressed, in fact we've regressed."

Former England winger Josh Charnley is back in rugby league after joining Warrington. The 26-year-old ex-Wigan favourite is cutting short his stay in rugby union with Sale Sharks after signing for the Wolves with immediate effect on a contract to the end of 2020.

"I like this club. It's a good club to be at, there's a good culture here and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in with the lads and pushing for that top four spot," said Charnley.

"There wasn't much persuasion needed. I know a few boys here who speak highly of this club so it wasn't a tough decision to put pen to paper. I'll be looking to bring some enthusiasm to the boys and bring a bit of pace to the team. I'll try and be a bit physical and try and give the lads a lift."

They were then able to hold off the Storm and record their second win in a row to start the season.
