Salford have announced the signing of former England forward Lee Mossop from Wigan.

The 27-year-old prop still had 12 months left to run on the three-year deal he signed on his return to the Warriors from his ill-fated move to NRL club Parramatta but did not feature in the last six weeks of the 2016 season culminating in their Grand Final triumph.

Red Devils coach Ian Watson said: "Lee is great addition to our squad. He adds depth to our pack and brings with him plenty of experience at the highest level.

"With the squad we already have in place I think Lee can have a big impact on our season as we look to build on last year."

Mossop is the fourth addition to Watson's squad for 2017, following the arrival of Warrington forward Daniel Murray, York hooker Kris Brining and St Helens front rower Lama Tasi.

The signing was the first piece of business conducted by new chief executive Ian Blease, the club's former captain, who said: "The squad is virtually now complete with an emphasis on experience which Lee brings to this club.

"The club will also mix the experience with youth with the likes of Josh Wood, Jake Bibby and Ryan Lannon challenging the senior members of the squad for next year's shirts."
