Wakefield have signed prop David Fifita from Cronulla Sharks for the remainder of the season, with the option of another year.

The 26-year-old, who has represented Tonga and Indigenous All Stars, will now join his former Sharks team-mates Anthony Tupou and Tinirau Arona in the Wildcats' squad.

Fifita has made 19 appearances for the Sharks since joining them in 2014 from Elite One Championship side Lezignan Sangliers.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester said: "It is a massive signing for the club, as a player we monitored closely over the last six to eight weeks, we know he will bring some real punch and aggression to the team which is something we have lacked over recent weeks.

"I am looking forward to working with David over the coming months.
