Wigan Warriors on the winners podium after beating Cronulla Sharks on Sunday

Shaun Wane, Sean O'Loughlin and Shane Flanagan react to Wigan's victory over Cronulla in the World Club Challenge.

Wigan backed up Warrington's 27-18 win over Brisbane on Saturday with a victory that came courtesy of a hat-trick from winger Joe Burgess.

Burgess scored twice in the first half, with Morgan Escare converting one to hand a 10-0 lead to Shaun Wane's men at half-time.

Oliver Gildart was first on the board in the second half when he stepped inside the cover defence to put his side 16-0 ahead following the conversion. Cronulla hit back through a well-worked try scored by Jesse Raimen, but Wigan held out as Burgess crossed for his third try in the 80th minute for a convincing Wigan win.

Sunday's success at the DW Stadium means the Warriors become the first team to be crowned World Club Champions four times.
