Catalans Dragons have boosted their Betfred Super League top-eight hopes with the signing of back-rower Kenny Edwards.

The New Zealander was a free agent following his release by NRL strugglers Parramatta Eels last week.

Edwards has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with the Dragons and will be introduced to the fans ahead of Saturday's Super League clash with Leeds at Stade Gilbert Brutus, live on Sky Sports Arena via the red button.

"Me and my family are really excited and looking forward to this new challenge in the south of France," said the 28-year-old.

"I want to come out there and be the best I can be every day and help the team to win the club's first trophy."

Catalans were 26-12 winners over Salford at Magic Weekend

Catalans moved off the bottom of the table after their victory over Salford at St James' Park, where they secured the deal for Edwards.

"We are delighted to have found an agreement with Kenny and his agent Chris Orr, with three other clubs in the race at the Magic Weekend to sign this explosive player," said chief executive Christophe Jouffret.
