Widnes have secured the future of one of their brightest prospects, half-back Jordan Johnstone, on a two-year professional contract.
Johnstone, 18, only signed Academy forms with the Vikings late last year and a series of impressive performances saw him given his Super League debut earlier this month against the Catalans Dragons.
He went on to score his first senior try for the club against Rochdale Hornets in the fifth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup last weekend.
After signing the contract, Johnstone told the Widnes website: "These past couple of weeks have been crazy and have gone so fast.
"From getting the call from Brett Hodgson to say that I am debuting in Catalans, to signing a senior contract with the club, it's just really crazy how fast it has all happened.
"I am made up and cannot wait to be a part of what is to come with the Vikings over the coming seasons."
Head coach Denis Betts said: "We brought Jordan in a couple of years ago when he was playing for Whitehaven and he has improved game on game. He found his level playing in his own age group and dominated it.
"He is a physical, strong young player who we believe has a promising professional career and Super League future. I look forward to seeing him grow and working with him over the coming years."
