Tiger Hipkiss gets the call

Leicester centre Dan Hipkiss will make his England debut against Wales on Saturday.

Dan Hipkiss to partner Andy Farrell in new-look midfield

England v Wales, Saturday, 3.30pm, live on Sky Sports 2 Leicester centre Dan Hipkiss will make his England debut in Saturday's World Cup warm-up Test against Wales at Twickenham. The 25-year-old Tigers midfielder is the only new face in the world champions' side and will partner former Great Britain rugby league captain Andy Farrell in the centres. Both men probably need a big game to force their way into the frame for the trip to France next month. Veteran number eight Lawrence Dallaglio will start from the bench after head coach Brian Ashton opted for a back row of Martin Corry, Joe Worsley and Nick Easter. Former captain Corry reverts to his more familiar blind-side flanker's role after finishing last season's Six Nations campaign at lock. Phil Vickery skippers a side which also includes recalls for fit-again Bath captain and lock Steve Borthwick, Sale Sharks prop Andrew Sheridan and Harlequins wing David Strettle. Strettle was hospitalised during England's summer tour to South Africa, missing both Tests in Bloemfontein and Pretoria after contracting a stomach virus that decimated an already under-strength England squad. Ashton's 30-man World Cup squad will be announced on August 14. England team: M Cueto (Sale Sharks); D Strettle (Harlequins), D Hipkiss (Leicester), A Farrell (Saracens), J Robinson (Sale Sharks); J Wilkinson (Newcastle), S Perry (Bristol); A Sheridan (Sale Sharks), M Regan (Bristol), P Vickery (Wasps, captain), S Shaw (Wasps), S Borthwick (Bath), M Corry (Leicester), J Worsley (Wasps), N Easter (Harlequins). Replacements: G Chuter (Leicester), M Stevens (Bath), L Moody (Leicester), L Dallaglio (Wasps), P Richards (London Irish), T Flood (Newcastle), M Tait (Newcastle).
