Suspended tennis star Maria Sharapova is apparently set to spend some of her time away from the sport studying at the prestigious Harvard Business School.

The 29-year-old five-time Grand Slam champion has been handed a two-year ban after she tested positive for meldonium at the Australian Open in January.

Sharapova says she did not know the drug had been banned at the start of 2016 and has appealed against her suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.

In the meantime, the Russian posted a photo of herself on Facebook, sitting next to the sign outside Harvard Business School.

And she wrote: "Not sure how this happened but hey Harvard! Can't wait to start the program!"

Her agent Max Eisenbud said that the program involves two classes on campus but was not clear what certification, if any, Sharapova would earn from the coursework, while Harvard are yet to comment.
