French Open finalist Lucie Safarova has been hospitalised in the Czech Republic with an unspecified infectious disease.
Safarova posted a message with a photo from the hospital in Brno on Facebook: "It's been really hard month for me. Injury and now fighting bacteria infection in hospital!"
The world No 5 has already qualified for the WTA Finals in Singapore in doubles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands since the pair won both the Australian and French Opens earlier this season.
The 28-year-old also stands a good chance to qualify in the singles competition having reached her highest ranking this year.
Safarova is hoping to lead the Czech Republic in the Fed Cup final against Russia in November.
