French Open finalist Lucie Safarova hospitalised with infection

French Open finalist Lucie Safarova has been hospitalised in the Czech Republic with an unspecified infectious disease.

Safarova posted a message with a photo from the hospital in Brno on Facebook: "It's been really hard month for me. Injury and now fighting bacteria infection in hospital!"

The world No 5 has already qualified for the WTA Finals in Singapore in doubles with Bethanie Mattek-Sands since the pair won both the Australian and French Opens earlier this season. 

The 28-year-old also stands a good chance to qualify in the singles competition having reached her highest ranking this year.
