Great Britain to face Canada in 2017 Davis Cup World Group
Thursday 22 September 2016 15:16, UK
Great Britain will face Canada in the first round of the Davis Cup in February.
The World Group draw for 2017 opened up the possibility of a repeat of this year's Wimbledon final which saw Andy Murray defeat Canadian No 1 Milos Raonic in straight sets.
The tie will take place from February 3-5, the weekend after the Australian Open.
Canada will host the contest after lots were drawn to decide home advantage.
Countries usually alternate home and away advantage if they have played each other in the competition from 1970 onwards.
But with the last meeting between the countries having taken place in Bournemouth in 1967, lots had to be drawn.
Britain's defence of their Davis Cup title ended in the semi-finals last weekend with defeat by Argentina while Canada, semi-finalists in 2013, beat Chile to maintain their World Group status.
