Johanna Konta has been forced to pull out of the Hong Kong Open due to an abdominal strain.

The British No 1 had been looking to boost her chances of qualifying for the season-ending WTA finals in Singapore.

But, having beaten fellow Brit Naomi Broady in her opening match, the 25-year-old withdrew before her second-round clash with Wang Qiang.

The 25-year-old Konta's run to the China Open final last week led to her becoming the first British women to reach the top 10 in the world rankings since 1984.
