Kei Nishikori vented his fury on his racket at the Rio Open against Thomaz Bellucci

Kei Nishikori crashed out of the Rio Open on Tuesday night, and vented his fury on his racket!

The world No 5 is usually one of the calmest players on the tour, but he was well below his best in a surprise straight sets defeat to Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci.

With the fans firmly in Bellucci's camp and the home favourite serving up a treat for them, Nishikori could not contain his emotions as he was unable to bounce back from defeat in Sunday's Buenos Aires final to Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Facing set point on the Bellucci serve, the Japanese top seed could not make any inroads and dropped the first serve much to his disdain.

The 27-year-old launched his racket into the red dirt and it bounced across the court, leaving Nishikori to dip into his kit bag for a change in fortunes.

It wasn't to be as having lost the first set 6-4 he fared even worse in the second, winning just three games as Bellucci advanced.
