World No 2 Novak Djokovic has been knocked out of the ATP Acapulco event in Mexico in the quarter-finals by 21-year-old Nick Kyrgios.

Djokovic, 29, was the top seed at the tournament but was seen off in straight sets by Australian Kyrgios, who produced the best performance of his career.

Kyrgios ground out a 7-6, 7-5 victory over the Serb to book his place in the last four of the hardcourt competition.

"It's a big win," Kyrgios said. "I was a little bit nervous because I'm sure the crowd was rooting for Novak.
