John Isner hits a 117mph winner during his semi-final match against Juan Martin Del Potro in the Miami Open.

John Isner produced a ruthless display during his semi-final victory against Juan Martin del Potro and underlined his undoubted power with a lightning forehand winner.

The American stopped Del Potro's 15-match winning streak in its tracks with a 6-1 7-6 (7-2) victory to reach the Miami showpiece.

After a one-sided first set, Isner continued to be the aggressor from the baseline and cracked a vicious forehand winner, which measured 117mph and left his opponent rooted to the spot.

Isner managed 39 punishing winners in total during the contest, in comparison to 10 from Del Potro, who was unable to rediscover his best tennis during a tighter second set despite the support of a lively crowd at Crandon Park.
