Alexander Zverev took out his frustration on his racket as he lost to John Isner in the Miami Open final, missing out on a third Masters 1000 title.
The 20-year-old German was bidding to add to last year's successes in Rome and Montreal but suffered a 6-7 (7-4) 6-4 6-4 defeat to the American home favourite at Crandon Park.
Zverev looked composed in a tight first set which went the distance before he eventually took the initiative in the contest after an eventful tiebreak, which saw both players trade mini-breaks.
The world No 5 moved within two games of the title only to be broken at 4-4 in the second set before Isner served out to force a deciding third set.
Both players struggled to maintain their consistency from the back of the court as the contest reached a conclusion. After saving numerous break points on his serve Zverev finally succumbed to the pressure before he lost his cool on court, as he destroyed his racket.
Isner, who wasn't broken in the entire match, secured a memorable victory with his 18th ace of the contest.
