Djokovic wins his opening match of a tournament for just the third time this season

Novak Djokovic hit a shocking smash into the net - despite having all the time in the world - during his first-round match against Kei Nishikori at the Madrid Open on Monday.
Former world No 1 Novak Djokovic opened his campaign in the Spanish capital with a blockbuster clash against Japan's Nishikori.
Djokovic, last year's semi-finalist in Madrid and this year's and 10th seed, was attempting to get his season going after nursing a lingering right elbow injury.
The Serb hasn't made it past the last 16 in five tournaments this year and lost in the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters to Dominic Thiem last time out.
His attempted overhead smash during the second set against Nishikori might have affected most players, but not the 12-time Grand Slam champion, who turned in a fine 7-5 6-4 win which should give him plenty of confidence for the rest of the tournament.
