Marion Bartoli stops short comeback bid with desire to pursue coaching

Marion Bartoli has abandoned her comeback from retirement due to injury concerns and revealed her wish to become a coach.
The 33-year-old left the sport three weeks after winning Wimbledon in 2013 but announced a comeback attempt in December.
Bartoli picked up a mystery virus in early 2016 which led her to lose a life-threatening amount of weight but aimed to return to the game at the Miami Open in March but says a shoulder problem - an injury which prompted her retirement - is the reason behind her decision.
"To my dismay I must unfortunately stop my comeback attempt," Bartoli posted on Twitter.
"The necessary increase of training doses to try to find my best level caused pain again to my right shoulder, which become incompatible with a recovery at the highest level."
Bartoli made one appearance during her comeback attempt at the Tie Break Tens in New York, but lost to Serena Williams in the first round.
Since retiring, the eight-time winner on the WTA Tour has pursued a career in broadcasting and said that while she will consider all available options, she hopes to become a coach.
She continued on Twitter: "I want to thank everyone who accompanied me on this wonderful human adventure. I will now take the time to reflect on the various professional projects available to me.
"Nevertheless, I have a deep desire to transmit all that the very high level has taught me, and I therefore want to invest myself in the training of a player to help her maximise her potential."
