Kyle Edmund says he wants to become the best tennis player in the world as the British No 1 prepares for Wimbledon

Kyle Edmund says he does not fear anyone in the men’s game and has spoken of his ambition to become the world No 1.

The 23-year-old, who reached the Australian Open semi-final in January, is now firmly inside the world's top 20 and will hope to improve on last year's run to the second round at Wimbledon next week.

Edmund overtook Andy Murray as British No 1 during the three-time Grand Slam champion's extended injury absence and will face his compatriot in the second round of the Nature Valley International at Eastbourne on Wednesday.

He added: "I have developed a belief that there is no one I can't beat and I'm at a stage now where I do not fear anyone."

Edmund, who likens his training routine to that of England captain Harry Kane, has enjoyed a marked rise up the rankings since the start of the campaign and is in no doubt about one of the biggest attributes to his game.
