Andy Murray replaced by Roger Federer as world No 2

Andy Murray has dropped to third in the ATP world rankings ahead of the US Open.
Roger Federer has replaced the Brit as the second ranked player due to his Cincinnati Masters victory. Federer beat Murray in the semi-finals then toppled world No 1 Novak Djokovic in Sunday's final.
That pair of victories, culminating in capturing the Cincinnati crown, provided Federer with enough ATP points to regain his world No 2 status, overhauling Murray and trailing just Djokovic.
The updated rankings mean that the top two players, Djokovic and Federer, are guaranteed to be drawn in opposite halves of the US Open draw so they can only meet in a potential final. Murray, as third seed, will now be drawn in the same half as either his Serbian or Swiss rivals so could play them earlier in the tournament.
Murray, as a result of reaching the Montreal Masters final prior to Cincinnati, became the world No 2 for the first time since 2013 but that status was short-lived due to Federer's latest title win.
