Andy Murray finally found his rhythm at the French Open with a one-sided victory against Ivo Karlovic.
The British No 1 ran out a 6-1 6-4 7-6 (7-3) winner on Friday in the third round, bringing a welcome end to his back-to-back five-set marathon victories against Radek Stepanek and Mathias Bourgue.
Karlovic owns the all-time record for the most aces having passed Goran Ivanisevic's 10,246 milestone last year but that weapon was never enough to trouble Murray.
Instead, the fleet-of-foot Brit was frequently able to expose his 6ft 11in opponent's lack of agility with sweeping winners across the clay.
The result looked ominous from the first set, which Murray raced through in 24 minutes, only conceding his first game when he owned a 5-0 advantage. Against one of the best returners in the sport, Karlovic's powerful serve was rarely a threat.
Murray broke in the first game of the second set as Karlovic struggled to keep pace, and although the Croatian grew into the match it was always too late. He began finding success with his serve but never came close to the break he required to challenge for the set.
Karlovic held his own during the final set until Murray, having forced the tie-break, streaked clear with a 7-3 win to bring up his first straight sets win of the week.
Murray has now defeated the 37-year-old in all seven of their career meetings. He is likely to face John Isner in the fourth round.
