WWE SmackDown: Shinsuke Nakamura takes out The Club
Wednesday 25 April 2018 09:29, UK
AJ Styles reunited The Club on SmackDown but they found themselves on the wrong end of a beating from Shinsuke Nakamura.
Styles paired up with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to take on Nakamura, Rusev and Aiden English in a six-man tag team match on the final episode from the blue brand before the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
A back-and-forth battle came to an end when Nakamura tagged in without Gallows noticing and levelled him with a Kinshasa knee strike to the back of the head for a pinfall victory.
The result decided, things then broke down into a melee, with Styles and Nakamura trading shots before the latter hit the WWE champion with what has become his trademark low blow.
He then delivered a Kinshasa to Anderson - who had run into the ring to save Styles from one - and a second for good measure to leave the recently-reformed Club down and out.
Flair attacks Carmella during signing
To the audible rage of the crowd, Carmella continued to celebrate her victory over Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown women's title as Renee Young attempted to chair the contract signing for their rematch at Backlash.
It became too much for Flair when Carmella attempted to play her highlights reel over the big screen for a second time, with the Queen's music interrupting the broadcast.
Carmella did not seem too impressed by that, leading to yet more taunting of the now former champion. Things, however, went too far, and Flair slammed the Princess of Staten Island's head into the table in a major statement ahead of their return meeting in May.
Asuka beaten again in controversial loss
After being undefeated for 916 days, Asuka has now been beaten twice in successive matches, with her SmackDown debut ending in defeat.
Admittedly, the win for the IIconics, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, was a tainted one - Royce had her feet on the ropes when she pinned Asuka's partner Becky Lynch - and the Empress of Tomorrow was not the one on the wrong end of the three count.
But these are worrying times for Asuka, who will be keen to get in the championship picture as soon as possible.
