Finn Balor has been forced to relinquish the WWE Universal Title after suffering a shoulder injury while winning the championship at SummerSlam on Sunday night.
The Irishman's right shoulder was smashed into the barricade during his victory over Seth Rollins in Brooklyn - his debut match at a WWE pay-per-view - and he will now undergo surgery.
Balor's recovery period has been estimated as "anywhere from four to six months" by WWE physician Dr Chris Robinson, with the former NXT Champion suffering a possible labrum tear.
Wicklow-born Balor defeated Rollins with a Coup de Grace over the weekend to become the inaugural Universal Champion, having only debuted on the main roster in July.
The 35-year-old had earned his title opportunity by winning a Fatal Four-Way Match against Rusev, Cesaro and Kevin Owns and then a singles bout with Roman Reigns on the July 25 edition of Raw.
Reigns, Rollins, Owens and Big Cass will compete in a Fatal Four-Way on the next episode of Raw to determine the new WWE Universal Champion after winning singles matches on Monday night.
