Smackdown bosses Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon have challenged Raw to compete in three brand versus brand matches at Survivor Series

Smackdown bosses Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon have challenged Raw to three brand versus brand matches at WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view on November 20.

Bryan and McMahon made the blockbuster pitch during Tuesday's edition of Smackdown, on which the unheralded James Ellsworth earned a shot at AJ Styles' WWE World Title.

The blue-brand chiefs have proposed two traditional Survivor Series five-on-five elimination bouts - one featuring men and another featuring women - as well as a 10-on-10 clash featuring tag teams.

McMahon later tweeted: "The gauntlet has been thrown down on #Raw... #SDLive will have our teams ready for #SurvivorSeries. The question is ... will you?"

Smackdown's challenge follows Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon stating that her brand's next pay-per-view, Hell in a Cell, would "blow away" Smackdown's No Mercy show which took place on Sunday.

Elimination matches have become a staple of Survivor Series since the event's inception in 1987, with last year's main-card encounter seeing Ryback, The Usos, Sin Cara and Kalisto down The New Day's Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E as well as Sheamus and King Barrett.
