All eyes will be on Boston this weekend for the 2016 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Three Hell in a Cell bouts will be fought, including the first in the women's division as Sasha Banks battles Charlotte.

The event, live on Sky Sports Box Office from midnight on Sunday (Monday morning), will be stellar but it will have to go some to match last year's pay-per-view, one which saw The Phenom fight The Beast and then be lifted somewhere unknown….

Beast wins final battle

The Undertaker caught up with reigning NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers this week - but this time 12 months ago he was battling the Beast, with a Hell in a Cell match chosen to end their rivalry.

The pair's beef began when Brock Lesnar shattered The Phenom's undefeated streak at WrestleMania in 2014 and ratcheted up when Taker cost The Anomaly a WWE Title match against Seth Rollins and then beat him at SummerSlam 2015 after connecting with an illegal low blow.

Low blows WERE legal inside Hell in a Cell, though, and Lesnar used one to hurt Undertaker before hitting an F-5 onto the previously exposed wooden ring boards. The win was Lesnar's second over The Phenom in Hell in a Cell - he also beat him at No Mercy in 2002 to retain the WWE Title.

Taker was given a standing ovation by the crowd but as he posed for the fans, the lights went dark and The Wyatt Family appeared, with Bray Wyatt and his brood carrying The Deadman to an unknown destination.

Wyatt outgunned by Reigns

That was Wyatt's second appearance of the evening, with The Eater of Worlds having earlier been defeated by Roman Reigns inside the Cell. A throng of tables were destroyed throughout - Wyatt, on one occasion, powerbombed through the pine - but the decisive moment came when Reigns chucked Wyatt into a kendo stick and speared The Eater of Worlds for the win. The bout was the final chapter in a feud which was born when Wyatt attacked Reigns during June's Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Del Rio makes triumphant return

Del Rio answered John Cena's United States Title Open Challenge at the Staples Center, the Mexican making a shock return having been released from the company in August 2014. A Superkick to Cena did the trick, ensuring Del Rio picked up the title for the first time in his career having previously won four world championships. Ryback, though, had no such luck in his bid to prise the Intercontinental strap from Kevin Owens, losing via a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Neither Del Rio or Ryback will be in attendance at this Sunday's event, having parted ways with WWE over the summer.

Curtains for Corporate Kane

Two varieties of Kane were running around last year, with the demon version in the hunt for Seth Rollins' world title and the corporate kind serving as WWE's Director of Operations. Yet, as per a pre-match stipulation, Corporate Kane was fired at Hell in a Cell after Demon Kane failed in his attempts to win Rollins' belt. The WWE veteran appeared on the verge of landing the championship when he blasted The Architect with a Chokeslam but Rollins wriggled free of a second Chokeslam and prevailed courtesy of a Pedigree, a move bestowed upon him by ex-mentor, Triple H.

New Day down Dudleyz

Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods will enter Hell in a Cell 2016 the way they entered Hell in a Cell 2015 - as Tag Team Champions. Twelve months ago their opponents were Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, men with nine tag title reigns in WWE to their name. All that experience could not neuter Woods' trombone, though - the non-participating member of The New Day whacking Bubba with the instrument and watching on with glee as Kingston pinned him. Cesaro and Sheamus will be hoping for better luck when they battle for the titles this weekend.
