Former Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese is set for a return to football following his in-ring debut for WWE in Munich.

Wiese, 34, teamed with Cesaro and Sheamus to take on The Shining Stars and Bo Dallas during WWE's recent European tour, the ex-Werder Bremen stopper, nicknamed 'The Machine', earning the decisive pin.

Wiese quit football after leaving Hoffenheim in 2014 - but is now poised to make a comeback with amateur Bavaria-based side SSV Dillingen.

Dillingen chairman Christoph Nowak told Fupa that Wiese, who won six caps for Germany, agreed to the deal soon after his first WWE bout.

But he says the gloveman, whose former clubs also include Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Koln, is unlikely to be a regular and may not make his debut until the spring of 2017.

"He signed the playing license's form in the hotel bar after the fight," said Nowak. "It's a friendly turn for me and it's good for amateur football.

"He won't train here, that's clear. If he plays for us, then that's okay. But all of it is something between a PR coup and team motivation."
