Kurt Angle believes John Cena will go down as the "greatest" WWE Superstar in history.

Cena matched Ric Flair's record of 16 world titles when he defeated AJ Styles at WWE's Royal Rumble event in January.

The Cenation Leader has also won the United States Title five times, the Royal Rumble twice and closed out WrestleMania on five occasions since wrestling Angle on his WWE main-roster debut in 2002.

"Cena is the man," Angle, who will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in March, told Forbes. "I don't know anybody else who has gone 13 years on top.

"I'm not going to say he's the greatest athlete in WWE history but he will go down as the greatest of all time in WWE history.

"He's not a guy who's going to throw fists and mix it up but what he has been able to endure for 12, 13 years, nobody has ever done that."

Angle also gave his backing to Linda McMahon, the wife of WWE Chairman Vince, after she was confirmed as head of Small Business Administration in US President Donald Trump's cabinet.

"If anybody is going to be able to represent the United States for small businesses, it's Linda McMahon," Angle said of the former Chief Executive Officer of WWE.

"She has done the business aspect [of WWE] for all this time - she has taken it from a semi-small company into a worldwide mecca. She single-handedly did that.

"Vince was more the hands-on approach, as far as entertainment was concerned, but Linda McMahon deserves that job more than anybody and I'm so happy for her."
