Randy Orton's reign as WWE Champion is over after being stunned by Jinder Mahal at WWE Backlash.
Orton appeared to have the main event won after hitting Mahal with an RKO late on, only for Mahal's associates the Singh Brothers to drag Jinder out of the ring before the pin.
Orton took his frustration out on the NXT tag team by bouncing them both off the announcers' tables only for Mahal to take advantage of the distraction.
Jinder sneaked up on Orton in the ring, hit the Khallas and pinned the 13-time shock, leaving the thousands of fans in Chicago in absolute shock.
"Hell has frozen over, Jinder Mahal is the WWE Champion," co-commentator and former World Champion JBL exclaimed ringside, summing up the surprise felt by fans around the world.
The night started with the long-awaited in-ring debut of Shinsuke Nakamura.
