WWE Monday Night Raw: Brock Lesnar's Royal Rumble match confirmed
Tuesday 19 December 2017 08:22, UK
WWE Universal champion Brock Lesnar will take on Braun Strowman and Kane in a triple threat match at the Royal Rumble.
The title defence was confirmed by Raw general manager Kurt Angle, who quickly left the ring before Lesnar clotheslined Strowman over the top rope and delivered a huge F5 to Kane.
Kane had pointed out prior to the match that - unlike his brother, the Undertaker - he had never lost to Lesnar, and will be given the chance to both extend that record and win the main Raw title at the first pay-per-view of 2018.
Ambrose sustains arm injury
Dean Ambrose could be facing a spell on the sidelines after a backstage attack by Samoa Joe.
Ambrose was already being treated by a member of WWE medical staff when The Bar attacked him and Seth Rollins, who had earlier been pinned by Cesaro to settle a six-man tag match which also included Jason Jordan.
Joe then slammed Ambrose's arm in a large storage case to leave him down and out.
Woman's Royal Rumble confirmed
Absolution lost their first match when the referee disqualified them for a three-on-one attack on Sasha Banks, giving her team - which also included Mickie James and Bayley - the victory.
As the attack continued, Nia Jax hit the ring and took out Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose with a hugely impressive double Samoan Drop before Paige helped her faction get back on top.
That brought out the rest of the women's division and also Stephanie McMahon, but the commissioner was not there to impose discipline.
Instead, she confirmed there will be a women's Royal Rumble match alongside the men's version at the event in Philadelphia on January 28.
Alexander earns shot at Amore
Drew Gulak was left without the guiding presence of Enzo Amore, who left the commentary table after receiving a message from Nia Jax.
Without the head of the Zo Train watching, Gulak succumbed to a Lumbar Check to become the No 1 contender for Enzo's cruiserweight championship.
