Tottenham forward Nacer Chadli is expected to be out for six weeks after suffering minor ankle ligament damage.

Sky sources reported on Monday that Chadli had undergone scans, having been stretchered off just 11 minutes into Spurs 0-0 draw at home to Liverpool on Saturday, and was to be sidelined for at least four weeks.

And the club confirmed on Tuesday that further assessment meant the Belgium international forward could be out for as many as six, which could leave him sidelined until the home game against Chelsea on November 29.

Spurs can cope

Tottenham ambassador and former defender Ledley King told Sky Sports News HQ it is a blow for the team but believes they can cope because of strength in the depth of their squad.

King said: "Of course it's going to be a blow - he has been important to the team - but there are good players that can come in.

"That's the good thing about the squad at the moment; it's young but there is great competition for places and I'm sure whoever comes in will do a great job."

Chadli has featured in 11 of Tottenham's 12 matches so far this season, including 10 starts, with one Premier League goal to his name.

But he has been added to a lengthy Spurs injury list that contains Heung-Min Son, Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason, Tom Carroll and Alex Pritchard.
