Fan's view - Gemma Davies, Sky Sports News Producer

Expectation: The club has ambitions to return to the Premier League, and there's no reason they can't do it under Gary Caldwell. Some fans are hopeful of a play-off place after the momentum from the end of last season, but I'm expecting us to stay up comfortably and to challenge for a top-half finish. And after a mixed few seasons since Premier League relegation, I'd settle for mid-table mediocrity (with a splash of optimism for the future).

Most important player: Will Grigg's on Fire. The man famous for setting alight the Euros without playing a single minute won't be left on the Wigan bench. This is his season to prove himself in the Championship.

Who will win the league? Newcastle United

Dark horse? Ipswich Town

One Championship player you'd want to sign? Jonjo Shelvey

Ollie's prediction: 20th

It all depends on whether Wigan can add a bit more quality to their squad. If they can, then they'll stay up. Gary Caldwell is a fresh young manager going places.

Sky Bet odds

Wigan stormed to Sky Bet League One glory last season and can be supported at 40/1 to achieve back-to-back title victories. A much-sought-after return to the Premier League is priced up at 10/1 with Sky Bet, who offer 18/1 against a top-two finish and 22/1 for Wigan to go all the way and win the most valuable game in football - the play-off final at Wembley.

An immediate return to League One is a 15/2 chance and they're a very short price at 16/1 to stay up. Caldwell's side are 4/7 to finish higher than Blackburn and 8/13 to end the season above fellow north-west rivals Preston in the league standings.
