West Ham have made an improved bid of £5m for Hull City midfielder Robert Snodgrass, according to Sky sources.

The Hammers had initially made a bid of £3m for the Scotland international, but this was rejected by Hull on Friday.

Snodgrass, who is under contract until 2018, has been a key performer for Hull this season despite the club's troubles, but in December turned down the chance to commit his long-term future to the club.

New Tigers manager Marco Silva started the Scot in the club's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Hull sit bottom of the Premier League having won only three games this campaign and are without a win in the division for nine fixtures.

Hull next face Bournemouth in a crucial clash at the KCOM on Saturday.

As well as Snodgrass, West Ham are in the hunt for at least one striker having had a £6m bid for Sunderland's Jermain Defoe rejected, as well as a trio of bids for Brentford's Scott Hogan all short of the £15m asking price.
