Roma are set to make a new offer to Leicester City for Riyad Mahrez, according to Sky Italia.

The Serie A club are ready to make another approach for the Algeria international after having three previous bids rejected by the Foxes.

Roma's third bid of £32m was rejected out of hand and although reports in Italy suggest a bid of £40m would be enough to secure Mahrez's signature, Sky sources understand that would still be well below Leicester's valuation of the winger.

Mahrez handed in a transfer request earlier this summer but Leicester have repeatedly said they do not want to sell the former PFA Player of the Year.

Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare insists the Foxes are under no pressure to sell their best players and that Mahrez will be considered for selection in the club's opening game of the season at Arsenal on Friday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

"We're a club that don't need to sell, which is vitally important," Shakespeare said. "I think we've got owners that want to keep their best players.

"The reality is we're living with the current situation of the transfer window. Every club is living in that reality. We have to deal with it, we don't want to be a selling club - we want to add to what we've already got."
