Blackpool 2-0 Coventry: Mark Cullen, Joe Dodoo on target in victory

Blackpool 2-0 Coventry

Second-half strikes from Mark Cullen and Joe Dodoo inspired Blackpool to a 2-0 win over Coventry City at Bloomfield Road.

Cullen's header after 48 minutes was added to by Rangers loanee Dodoo, who struck with 10 minutes reamining to hand caretaker boss Terry McPhillips and his side a first win of the season in League One.

Chances were at a premium in the first half, though Coventry stopper Liam O'Brien was forced to beat Tangerines skipper Jay Spearing's 25-yard drive away for a corner, while Luke Thomas curled his free-kick just over for the Sky Blues.

The home side broke the deadlock three minutes after half-time, with Cullen pouncing on Oliver Turton's whipped cross from the left to beat O'Brien in the air and nod home.

Mark Robins' Coventry looked to get back into it but Thomas saw his shot charged down by Turton and Donervon Daniels, but the game was put to bed after 80 minutes when Dodoo latched onto Daniels' long pass, pipping O'Brien to the ball and lifting into the net.
