Nicolas Gaitan turns down a move to Swansea from Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid midfielder Nicolas Gaitan has turned down a move to Swansea, according to Sky sources.

The 29-year-old has made just 12 appearances this season and has been linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Sky Sports News reported earlier this month that Swansea were unlikely to sign Gaitan and his Atletico team-mate Kevin Gameiro.

Swansea are yet to make any signings in the January window but midfielder Roque Mesa is close to completing a loan move to Sevilla, according to Sky sources.

Gaitan started his career at Boca Juniors in his native Argentina before completing a move to Benfica in 2010.
