Doncaster 2-1 Bradford: John Marquis double downs Bantams

Doncaster 2-1 Bradford

A John Marquis double helped Doncaster to a 3-1 win against Bradford, whose search for a first win under David Hopkin continues.

Scoring either side of half-time, Marquis put Rovers in command before George Miller pulled a late goal back for the visitors.

Doncaster took the lead after 23 minutes. James Coppinger found Marquis who smashed a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Bradford will feel aggrieved to have not been awarded a penalty when Joe Wright appeared to haul down Eoin Doyle early in the second half.

Doncaster then put daylight between themselves and the visitors in the 52nd minute with a superb team goal. The ball moved quickly through Matty Blair and Coppinger before Herbie Kane slid a pass through for Marquis who drilled home from 15 yards.

Bradford ensured a nervy finish when they pulled a goal back with nine minutes left. Substitute Miller beat goalkeeper Marko Marosi to a long ball and slotted into an empty net, but Rovers held on to secure a third straight win.
