Doncaster held on to see off Sky Bet League One bottom side Bolton 2-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Goals from Fejiri Okenabirhie and Niall Ennis put Doncaster in control before Joe Dodoo pounced to set up a nervy finish.
After a slow start, Doncaster enjoyed the better of the play, with the lively Okenabirhie going close with a header.
Doncaster finally got their reward in the 40th minute. Reece James - who was carried off on a stretcher on the stroke of half-time - touched the ball into the box, where Okenabirhie charged in and finished well beyond Remi Matthews.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 48th minute with a wonderful team goal, starting from goalkeeper Seny Dieng. James Coppinger clipped a fine ball to the back post, where Ennis planted a header home.
Ennis almost netted again moments later after cutting out a backpass but Doncaster gifted Bolton a route back into the game in the 57th minute.
Dieng attempted to turn on the ball after receiving a backpass but was tackled by Dodoo, who slotted into an empty net.
Bolton pushed on after their goal but could not find the leveller as the game petered out.
