Rangers have signed winger Ryan Kent from Liverpool on a season-long loan.

Sky Sports News reported on Saturday the 21-year-old was having a medical at Ibrox and the Scottish Premiership team confirmed the move on Sunday.

Working alongside former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and former Reds coach Michael Beale was a big attraction for Kent.

He told the club's website: "I think when the opportunity came around to join a club of this magnitude, it was a bit of a no-brainer.

"They have got a person in charge now in Steven Gerrard who has played at the highest level and achieved many great things.

"To learn from him is great, and I already know some of the players here. To have Michael Beale here too, he got the best out of me in under-23s football at Liverpool."

Kent has previously spent time on loan at Coventry City and Barnsley.

Last season he spent time on loan at Bundesliga side SC Freiburg and Championship club Bristol City.

He made only 17 appearances last season and so he was determined to make sure his next move was the right one.

Kent, added: "Last season was a disappointing year. I made my debut against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena [for Freiburg] and was involved in a promotion chase with Bristol City, so I did take a lot away from last season.

"On a personal level, I would like to get a lot of game time this year. I think I have to prove a lot of people wrong from last season, and it is a chance to add numbers to my game - so to get a lot of assists and goals.

"I want to get back to enjoying my football again."
