Scunthorpe 0-3 Burton: Brewers cruise to victory

Highlights of the Sky Bet League One game between Scunthorpe and Burton

In-form Burton continued their climb up the League One table with a comprehensive 3-0 victory at relegation-threatened Scunthorpe.

Kieran Wallace's first-half header set the Brewers on the way to a fourth win in five games, before two goals in as many minutes from Lucas Akins and Liam Boyce after the break left United one point above the relegation zone.

Seeing plenty of the ball out wide, Burton took the game to the hosts - but had to wait until the 39th minute to break the deadlock when a corner was headed back into the middle and defender Wallace nodded home via the inside of the post.

It came just seconds after Scunthorpe keeper Jak Alnwick had brilliantly palmed over a powerful Boyce header from another Jamie Allen corner.

Although the home side were better for a period at the start of the second half, they were unable to carve out anything in the way of scoring opportunities.

Burton doubled their lead in the 68th minute with another header, this time from Akins, who got in front of his marker at the near post to meet Colin Daniel's cross.

A speculative effort from Boyce 16 minutes from time, with what appeared to be a cross nestling into the top corner, only compounded Scunthorpe's misery - as did a Rory McArdle header being ruled out for offside in the final quarter.
