Miyazato holds a share of the lead after an opening-round 67 in California, while former US Women's Champion Wie sits three strokes off the pace after mixing four birdies with two bogeys.
The pair showed visibly different set-ups for the swings, with Miyazato taking a visibly longer backswing and Wie seemingly going for a faster movement.
