Europe captain Carin Koch shares her favourite Solheim Cup memories

Ahead of this week's Solheim Cup, we asked European captain Carin Koch to reflect on her treasured memories as a player in the competition in our Solheim Six of the Best ...

Favourite Solheim Cup venue?

That's a tough question, because we have played at so many great courses. If I had to pick one, I'd have to go for Barseback in my home country in 2003.

Best partner?

It's got to be my fellow Swede Annika Sorenstam. She was the No 1 player in the world for a long time and very tough to beat. She was a great team player as well. We knew each other very well and had great confidence in each other.

Favourite shot?

That's an easier one - I was lucky enough to hole the winning putt for Europe at Loch Lomond in 2000. It was from around 15 feet, and it was very dark and so cold, I couldn't feel my hands and they were shaking so much. That 17th is probably my favourite Solheim Cup hole - I just wanted to dig that green up and take it home with me!

Best captain?

Hard to pick one out really. I think Liselotte Neumann did a great job in the last Solheim Cup in Colorado, and I'll try to copy some of the things she did as well as doing my own thing. I've also learned a few important things from speaking to Paul McGinley. Obviously he was a great Ryder Cup captain last year.

Favourite overall memory?

It would probably have to be that winning putt in 2000, but I'll also have to mention being on the first tee at Barseback - that was an amazing experience. I was on home soil and had a lot of family and friends in the crowd. It was so loud, the fans were like having an extra player on the team!

But it's hard to beat the memory of making the winning putt at Loch Lomond. I was three down to Michelle Redman but I managed to win it, so that was pretty special. That's obviously the one I remember most.

Toughest opponent?

Morgan Pressel is a top-class player and a very nice girl. She's very fair but a great competitor.
