Spaniard wins twice in a day to keep title defence on track

Defending champion and third seed Pablo Andujar was forced to work overtime to book his place in the semi-finals of the Hassan II Open in Casablanca. The Spaniard beat Italy's Potito Starace 6-3 6-0 in his opening-round match, then returned to court to beat qualifier and compatriot Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol 6-4 1-6 6-3 to reach the last four. Andujar will face another Italian, Flavio Cipolla, for a place in the final after Cipolla overcame Frenchman Benoit Paire 6-3 6-4. Cipolla saved 10 of the 12 break points he faced in the match. Russia's Igor Andreev saw off Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 6-4 6-2 to progress to the last four on the other side of the draw, where he will face another Spaniard, seventh seed Albert Ramos, who downed Jeremy Chardy of France 6-3 6-4.
