WWE Hell in a Cell: Bray Wyatt caused chaos at 2014 event

John Cena and Randy Orton went to war once more at Hell in a Cell

The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar will be the star attractions at this weekend's Hell in a Cell pay-per-view - but at the corresponding event last year it was Bray Wyatt who made the biggest statement.

The Eater of Worlds caused carnage in the main-event match between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, though his antics formed just part of the fun, as you will find it in our reflections on the 2014 show below.

Browse those and then make sure you watch Hell in a Cell 2015, live at midnight on Sunday (Monday morning) on Sky Sports Box Office…

Wyatt proves Hell for Ambrose

Image: Bray Wyatt cost Ambrose victory at Hell in a Cell 2014

Seth Rollins may need a helping hand to quell Demon Kane at Hell in a Cell on Sunday, something he got when he met former Shield stablemate Dean Ambrose at this event twelve months ago. Rollins and Ambrose, sworn enemies since the former turned on the latter and Roman Reigns to side with The Authority, met inside Hell in a Cell to end a rivalry that had included Rollins crushing Ambrose's face into a pile of cinderblocks. Their scrap in the Cell was brutal, emphasised by both competitors taking a tumble off the steel and through the announce table, a la Mick Foley in 1998. Ambrose - having recovered from being sprayed by a fire extinguisher by Rollins' then-associate Kane, as well as a Curb Stomp from the Architect - then looked set for victory, until the arena went dark, Bray Wyatt's trademark lantern appeared in the middle of the ring, and The Eater of Worlds himself cost The Lunatic Fringe the win, a turn of events that began a winter-long feud.

Cena earns a date with Lesnar

Ambrose wasn't the only Superstar keen on pummelling Rollins a year ago, with John Cena seeking revenge on the brash Iowan for stopping him beating WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions. Yet, Cena's defeat to Ambrose in a Contract on Pole Match to determine who would combat Rollins at Hell in a Cell, meant he wrestled old rival Randy Orton instead. Tripe H upped the ante by announcing that the pair's bout inside the Cell would be a No 1 contender's match with the victor earning a dust-up with Lesnar at a later date. The victor was Cena. The West Newbury native didn't have it easy in his second Hell in a Cell tussle with Orton, mind you, Cena needing three Attitude Adjustments, the final one through a table, to down his rival. Cena then made a beeline for Lesnar's advocate Paul Heyman, telling the New Yorker that he would slay The Beast the next time they met, a promise he ultimately failed to deliver on.

Nikki wins all-Bella brawl

Sisterly love had been replaced by sisterly hate following SummerSlam when Nikki Bella sold out her twin sibling Brie in her scuffle with Stephanie McMahon. A fuming Brie wanted vengeance and learned she'd get it at Hell in a Cell when the sisters went one-on-one. The stipulation? The loser must serve as the personal assistant of the winner for 30 days. High stakes indeed. Nikki began the bout stronger but when her Rack Attack yielded just a two count, Brie began to take control, catching her relative in a Daniel Bryan-inspired "Yes!" Lock that was only released when Nikki scrambled to the ropes. Nikki emerged victorious, though, with a second Rack Attack forcing Brie to bow to her every demand for a month or instead have her WWE contract terminated. Brie opted for the former but the siblings are on the same page now, representing Team Bella alongside Alicia Fox in matches against Team B.A.D. and Team PCB as the Divas Revolution gathers pace.

Paige falls short against Lee

Paige and AJ Lee played a game of hot potato with the Divas Championship for much of 2014 but at Hell in a Cell, Lee was in no mood to let her grip on the belt slip. Having won back the strap from Paige at Night of Champions in a clash also involving Nikki Bella, Lee managed to submit the Brit with the Black Widow to retain in Texas. While the champion skipped away gleefully, the same could not be said of the vanquished challenger, who attacked ringside ally Alicia Fox after blaming her for her defeat. In the other title tussles, Dolph Ziggler beat Cesaro to nil in a two-out-of-three falls match for the Intercontinental Championship; Gold and Stardust overcame The Usos to keep the WWE Tag Team Titles; and United States Champion Sheamus Brogue Kicked Miz into next week in a contest best remembered for the exemplary mimicry carried out by The Miz's stunt double, Damien Mizdow.

Rusev makes mincemeat of Big Show

Image: Rusev cracks Big Show with a vicious kick to the head

Rusev has fallen into a mini-slump in 2015, losing both his unbeaten streak and United States Championship to Cena at WrestleMania and then seeing Ziggler edge their late-summer rivalry. A year ago, however, and the Bulgarian Brute was unstoppable, with the 460lb World's Largest Athlete, Big Show, the latest to feel his force. Show, irked by Rusev's denigration of all things American, pinned The Super Athlete back early on, though he was soon in peril as the European administered suplexes with ease. Not even Mark Henry cheering him on from ringside could inspire the giant and he eventually tapped out to The Accolade, as many had done before him. Henry was not spared punishment either, the World's Strongest Man cracked by a devastating Rusev superkick. The blow obviously messed with Henry's head as the following night on Raw he flattened Big Show with three World's Strongest Slams while they fought Gold and Stardust for the tag titles.
