Mo Farah will step up his preparations for this summer's Olympics when he makes his debut in the World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff later this month.

The double Olympic champion will head a 10-strong British team in the Welsh capital on March 26.

Farah, who 12 months ago in Lisbon ran 59.32 minutes to set a new European record over the distance, will be back in action after winning the 3,000m at last month's Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix.

Farah told British Athletics: "I am looking forward to running on the British team at the IAAF/Cardiff University World Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff.

"It will be my first time to compete at this championship but I have been training hard and hope to perform well.

"I always enjoy racing in front of a home crowd and I'm sure they will give myself and the rest of the British team, fantastic support as they line the streets of the city."

Farah will be joined on the men's line-up by five-time Welsh cross-country champion Dewi Griffiths and Callum Hawkins, Ryan McLeod and Matthew Hynes.

Former European cross-country champion Gemma Steel heads the women's team which also includes, Alyson Dixon, Charlotte Purdue, Rachel Felton and Jenny Spink.
