Newcastle Eagles extended their undefeated run to 11 matches after beating local rivals Durham Wildcats 99-83 in a North-East derby on Friday.
Scott Martin lead the scoring with 23 points, including five three-pointers, and Andrew Thompson got 21 while four Eagles team-mates also hit double figures to keep the Newcastle side top of the table.
Third-placed Wildcats were kept in the game by Christopher Jones' 20 points.
It was an apt night in Newcastle as the Eagles paid tribute to all-time top scorer Charles Smith.
Sheffield Sharks claimed Yorkshire dominance with a 71-52 win over Leeds Force in another Friday derby encounter.
The two struggling sides were separated by Sharks' Nick Lewis scoring a game-winning 19, while Mike Tuck and Allen Payne added 15.
Force's James McCann top-scored with 23 but no team-mates managed double figures, although debutant Giordano Estrada chipped in with nine.
Leeds Force remain bottom of the pile and Sheffield Sharks, winning for the first time in five matches, improve their record to 4-6.
