George Groves feels a super-middleweight showdown with Martin Murray would be "ideal".

The west Londoner got back to winning ways by beating Andrea Di Luisa live on Sky Sports last month, and admits he is happy to have a fight the British fans want to see.

Groves has Callum Smith on his radar but with the Liverpudlian challenging Hadillah Mohoumadi in a final WBC world title eliminator in April, he would prefer to take on Murray next.

The St Helens man was ringside as Groves stopped Di Luisa in the fifth round and immediately called out 'The Saint', who was far from upset.

I think the British fans would enjoy it, see it as a real 50-50 fight maybe and as I said, I'd certainly take it.

"I think that's an ideal fight for me right now," Groves told Sky Sports.

"He [Murray] has challenged for world titles, he has moved up from middleweight and lost a split decision to Arthur Abraham so he proved he belongs in good company.

"I feel it's a fight I'm very comfortable taking and winning - and winning well.

Groves is still getting used to working with new trainer Shane McGuigan and did not rule out another fight before returning to the top level.

He has been linked with appearing on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao against Timothy Bradley, but would rather stay in Britain after his WBC world title failure against Badou Jack went "under people's noses" in Las Vegas.

And with Smith and WBO world champion Arthur Abraham both having fights planned and old enemy James DeGale chasing a unification fight with Jack, Groves believes facing Murray next is a real possibility.

"He's one guy who isn't tied up, who is ready and willing to take the fight," he said.

"He is a tough fighter and a good fighter as well. His style of fighting means he's always in the fight really. That's why he's lost so many close decisions.

"He keeps himself busy, he's got a good work-rate, he smothers his opponent but on the clinical stuff, I've always thought he fell short.

"He hasn't got a great KO rating and obviously at middleweight he had that tremendous fight with Gennady Golovkin where he came out being congratulated for being a brave guy."
