Dillian Whyte admits he could be tempted to take a world title fight straight away if he makes short work of Dereck Chisora on Saturday night.
The British heavyweight champion makes the first defence of his title against Chisora on a packed undercard for Anthony Joshua-Eric Molina at Manchester Arena, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
A grudge fight between the bitter rivals is also a WBC eliminator with the winner edging closer to a shot at WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
Whyte has carefully rebuilt his career since suffering his first professional loss to Anthony Joshua almost a year ago, but could find it hard to resist a world title offer if he produces an impressive win over Chisora this weekend.
"It's all about stages and I believe that I'm moving through the ranks properly," Whyte told Sky Sports. "The fight is a big fight and I want one just up from that, because I believe I'm two fights away from a world title after this one.
"We want one just above Chisora and then someone else, and then move onto the world title fight, that would be ideal for me.
"If I go in there and blow Chisora out in a few rounds or whatever, or go in there and box his head off, then I've proved to myself and my people that I'm ready and I'm there now.
"I might just miss the next two fights and go to that level, or sit back and have two more, because I'm still a relative novice to boxing."
Whyte has teamed up with new trainer Mark Tibbs this year and admits there is still work to be done, but the 28-year-old is confident the best years of his career are yet to come.
"Thank god I'm a tough kid, obviously I did a bit of kickboxing which gave me enough experience going into the pros," said Whyte.
"I learned because I'm tough and resilient but still so much to come, much to learn, conditioning needs to get better, needs to get stronger. I'm still under 30 years old, so I'm only going to get stronger."
