Tony Bellew is in for a big shock in the ring if he thinks David Haye has been taking it easy in Miami, according to Haye's trainer Shane McGuigan.

The 36-year-old has been in the United States preparing for his heavyweight grudge fight with Bellew at The O2 on March 4, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Opting to build up to the fight at trainer David Coldwell's gym in Rotherham, the Liverpudlian has taken a swipe at Haye's jet-setting lifestyle and fondness for celebrity events.

Bellew said: "While he is posing in the sun, I am grafting in the cold."

However, Haye's trainer Shane McGuigan had a warning for his boxer's rival and told Sky Sports News HQ: "His yacht was obviously a luxury but David has been around luxury all of his professional career so that's been nothing different.

"If Bellew reads into that then he'll be in for a big fright on fight night. David's in fantastic shape. When's he's happy, he's training well.

"That's why we went to Miami, to make sure he's happy. He had no distractions and it's easy to lead a healthy life in Miami. His eating was good and he was training well."

Haye, who has fought twice since returning from his three-and-a-half year exile, has been very vocal in dismissing Bellew's criticism of his warm-weather training camp in Miami.

McGuigan admitted it had been a big challenge for Haye to get back in shape following his break outside of the ring, but was confident he will have more than enough tools to deal with Bellew.

David Haye explains his preparation for the battle with Tony Bellew

"He's had a three-and-a-half year lay-off and your body adapts to what you're doing," he added.

"He's been enjoying his time off and down time with his family. It's taken some time to get his weight down but I wouldn't be surprised if he's lighter than Bellew.

"You have one guy who is an athlete at that weight and a guy who's carrying excess weight. We shall see what happens."
