Wladimir Klitschko is adamant 'failure is not an option' after surrendering his world heavyweight titles to Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian (64-4-KO53) tasted defeat for the first time in 11 years to lose his WBA Super, WBO and IBF belts on points but quickly called for a rematch with his conqueror (25-0-KO18).

Now, in an open letter, Klitschko has reiterated his desire to box on.

The 39-year-old said: "It's been four days now and I need some time to understand what happened and to decide my next steps. BUT: I have to thank my fans, my team and all my partners. You have always been great and supportive.

"After an 11-year winning streak, I now begin to realise that you are even greater in defeat. I received many messages over these last few days. Your kind words and blessings are helping me get through this rough time.

"The Klitschko story will continue. Failure is not an option."

Fury's promoter Mick Hennessy and advisor Asif Vali suggested in the aftermath of Saturday's fight that Klitschko would retire.
