Alexander Povetkin has met with the WBC as he continues to protest innocence over a failed drugs test.

The Russian (30-1-KO22) took a medical and scientific team with him to meet with the governing body's officials in Mexico City having tested positive for Meldonium ahead of a scheduled clash with world champion Deontay Wilder.

A statement from the WBC read: "Mr. Povetkin and his medical and scientific team met with the WBC in Mexico City and presented their position as part of the WBC investigative process in this matter.

"The WBC has offered champion Wilder and his team an opportunity to present their own medical and scientific information and a meeting has been confirmed to take place by mid-July.
