Chris Eubank has renewed the verbal warfare with Billy Joe Saunders by demanding the world champion rematch Chris Eubank Jr.

Saunders (23-0-KO12) won a split decision over Eubank Jr (23-1-KO18) in November 2014 and has since become WBO world middleweight champion.

British champion Eubank Jr recently missed out on a date with divisional king Gennady Golovkin, who has signed for a September 10 clash with Kell Brook instead, and has restarted the hunt for a lucrative match of his own.

Eubank Sr, who clashed with Saunders on social media last week, told the The Express: "He said on Twitter that he is ready for the fight but I've seen nothing from him.

"Maybe he has had second thoughts. He's given his word to the boxing fans that he will have the rematch with Junior so now we're waiting to hear from him and his management team.

"We welcome the rematch, however we're not waiting around because we have offers from abroad."

I don't think it proves that he is the best in the world by beating Saunders. When he beats Golovkin he proves he's the best.

Eubank Jr is in line to make a second defence of his British crown against mandatory challenger Tommy Langford (17-0-KO6) but his ultimate goal remains proving himself the world's best against Golovkin, claims Eubank Sr.

He added: "Junior is the British champion but we're not held by the British championship - we want to keep it but if we have to relinquish it and move on to other things we will do.

Golovkin's clash with Brook is just weeks away

"Junior has to prove it now and to prove it he has to have the fights. And Golovkin is the one he can prove it against. If he fights Saunders, if Saunders comes out of hiding, then I think he will beat him.

"I think he'll outbox him this time. But I don't think it proves that he is the best in the world by beating Saunders. When he beats Golovkin he proves he's the best in the world as a pound-for-pound best."
